The Secretary of Concerned Youth for Development and Equity Initiative, Edo State, Comrade Raymond Omokaro has expressed his unalloyed solidarity with Nigerian youths over their agitation for good and quality governance to put an end to the perpetual corruption being carried out by those in power.
Omokaro disclosed this in a press statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
“I join in the struggles for the liberation of our dear great nation, Nigeria. A country suffering from her faulty foundation on which it was established in the 1999 Constitution,” Omokaro said.
“I call on our senior citizens, veterans, pensioners, labour unions to please join the ongoing demands from these patriots (The Nigerian Youths) for a better tomorrow for our great Nation,” he added.
He noted that the Nigeria police and other sister security agencies are not left out, he appealed to them to be civil in the discharge of their duties, stressing that peaceful assembly is a fundamental right of citizens globally.
While continuing to envisage a Nigeria of their dreams, Omokaro urged the youths to ensure the ongoing protests remain peaceful and calm as the life of every citizen matters.
He explained that it’s time to consolidate, heal, and build a nation where there will be justice, peace, equity and fairness.
He also urged the Federal Government to immediately ensure the implementation of the Oronsaye report, set up a Constitutional review, reduce crude refined products, and encourage local refineries at all costs.
Other issues raised by Omokaro include a review of the clearing cost of imported goods and services, encouraging local manufacturers by the provision of power supply to ensure the cost of production is reduced, reducing the cost of governance, and a review of Nigerian workers’ welfare.
