WARRI: Chevron Nigeria Limited has been honoured with the Community Partnership Award by Gbaramatu Voice International during the Niger Delta Night of Honour, held at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, to mark the media organisation’s 10th anniversary.
The award was presented by the Chairman of the Editorial Board of Gbaramatu Voice International, Prof. Tosan Blessing Harriman, and received on behalf of Chevron by Victor Anyaegbudike, Manager, Communications, Chevron Nigeria and Mid-Africa Region.
While presenting the award, Prof. Harriman commended Chevron’s consistent commitment to fostering collaboration with community stakeholders, noting its positive impact on socio-economic development in the Niger Delta.
He also praised the company’s support for development journalism and its contributions to preserving the region’s cultural diversity.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Anyaegbudike congratulated Gbaramatu Voice International on its milestone anniversary and reiterated Chevron’s longstanding presence in Nigeria.
“Chevron has been in Nigeria for over 60 years, contributing to national growth and development while making human investments that deliver long-term transformative returns,” he said.
He emphasized that the company’s philosophy of shared prosperity guides its operations:
“We recognize that the success of the larger society invariably translates to success in our business.
“It is in our long-term interest to add value to society as we create value for our stakeholders. We believe affordable, reliable and ever-cleaned energy is essential to building a more prosperous and sustainable world.”
Anyaegbudike further highlighted Chevron’s community-focused initiatives, including the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU), the Host Community Development Trusts (HCDTs) under the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, and the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND).
He also lauded the media for its pivotal role in national development and in shaping public perception of the oil and gas industry.
“As members of the fourth estate of the realm, media practitioners continue to play a vital role as agenda-setters and opinion moulders in society,” he noted.
