BENIN CITY-The Catholic Priest reportedly abducted last Wednesday has regained freedom.

It was gathered that Rev. Fr. Edwin Omorogbe was left off the hook last weekend.

Confirming the release, the Spokesman for Edo Police Command DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said no ransom was paid.

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State CP Johnson Kokumo had at the wake of the abduction assured of his release as police swung into action.

He said tactical squad of the state police command had commenced combing of suspected forests in the the state.

It was learnt that the incident occurred at Egba junction along Benin-Ekpoma highway.

Rev. Fr. Omorogbe was said to be returning to Benin from Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North East local government area of Edo State when he waylaid and whisked.
