Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has begged oil marketers to desist from hoarding petrol, a development that has caused fuel scarcity in the state and the entire country.

“I want to appeal to all petrol dealers in the state to resist the urge to hoard fuel and increase the price of the product. As a government, we are committed to the well-being of our people, and any attempt to undermine this will not be tolerated,” Governor Mutfwang said on Wednesday morning.

Nigeria has been hard hit with scarcity of petrol since May 29 when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the scrapping of fuel subsidies.

“I call on all petrol outlets in the state to open for business and commence the sale of the product to avoid unnecessary scarcity. I want to reiterate that any attempt to exploit or extort the people will not be allowed.

“Let us all work together to ensure that the people of Plateau State do not suffer unnecessarily in these trying times,” the Plateau State governor said on his Twitter handle.
