On his first day at work as Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Hon. Chief Solomon Ighrakpata said that the core mandate of the new management team of the Service would be to develop workable strategies for a sustainable increase in revenue generation to support the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s development agenda.

Speaking to newsmen at the Revenue House, Warri, Hon. Ighrakpata explained that delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Delta Stated was the focus of the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori.

He stressed that citizens must pay their fair share of taxes as part of their civic responsibility, in order to be able to hold the government accountable.

The Chairman stated that the newly appointed management team would work collectively to introduce new strategies to expand the tax net in order to support the vision of the Governor.

While stating that there would be no room for laxity from staff, Hon. Ighrakpata emphasized the need for greater public enlightenment and tax awareness campaigns as part of the strategies for reaching out to the tax-paying public and other stakeholders.

He declared that henceforth tax laws would be strictly enforced against tax defaulters in the state.
