Leading professional services firm, PwC, has announced the appointment of Sam Abu as its new regional senior partner with effect from 1 July 2023. His portfolio includes the West African sub region while he will also serve as the country senior partner for PwC Nigeria, Sylva Ifedigbo, Head, Clients and Markets Development, PwC Nigeria said in a statement.

According to the firm, with this appointment, Sam automatically becomes a member of the PwC Africa Leadership Team (ALT) which sets and drives the strategy for Nigeria and the West African market area with focus on building trust and delivering sustained outcomes for stakeholders in the sub region.

“Sam is based in Lagos, Nigeria and brings over 23 years of professional experience at PwC (Nigeria and the UK) to this new role, including many years auditing and advising local and multinational clients across a range of industries. He has held several leadership roles within the firm including most recently as the West Market Area Assurance Leader and the Financial Services Leader for Nigeria. He also served for 6 years on the PwC Africa Governance Board,” Ifedigbo added.
Sam will succeed Uyi Akpata , who has held the position since 2014. According to him, Uyi has had a successful career in the firm spanning almost four decades three of which he served as a partner in the firm. Uyi will also continue to be with the firm until his retirement on 30th June 2024.

Uyi commended the emergence of Abu Sam as the new country senior partner for Nigeria.
