Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc has announced the resignation of Barend Kruger, a non- executive director of the company, from the company. According to the financial group, Kruger also served as a Non- Executive Director on the Board of Standard Bank Group as well as on the Board of The International Institute of Finance.

Barend joined Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank in 1985, and having fulfilled various leadership roles in corporate and investment banking, was appointed as Chief Executive in 2001.

“In March 2013, he was appointed as Co-Chief Executive of Standard Bank Group. On 31 December 2018, Kruger retired from the Boards of Standard Bank of South Africa Limited, The Standard Bank Group Limited and Stanbic Bank Africa Holdings Limited. On 01 June 2018, Mr Kruger was appointed to the JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange) Board.

“Mr Barend Kruger completed his schooling at Heidelberg Hoër Volkskool, and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Pretoria (1980). He served his articles at Peat Marwick Mitchel & Co (KPMG), qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (1981) and completed the Advanced Programme in Management at Harvard Business School (1996),” Stanbic IBTC Holding said.

He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of South Africa and the Institute of Directors.
