The Nigerian Customs Service, Onne Command in Rivers State has generated the sum of N246.25 billion as revenue between January and October 2023. This was more than what was generated in the corresponding period of 2022 by N44 billion, Baba Imam, Comptroller Onne Command has stated.

“Beyond these collaborative functions and seizures, also, in the area of revenue generation, the Onne Command has generated N246.25 billion from January to October 2023. It is more than what was generated in the corresponding period of 2022 by N44 billion,” Baba Imam said.

Imam added that the NCS Area Command at Onne scored a significant point in its anti-smuggling campaign as it uncovered contraband goods worth billions of naira concealed in different containers.

“The operatives of Customs Intelligence Unit, was instrumental to the discovery of 100 rounds of live ammunition concealed in a vehicle. Consequently, two suspects were arrested in connection to the importation. As it is a criminal case relating to our collaborative functions with other government agencies, they have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution,” Imam added.

Among the items seized are 724 bales of loose clothing materials, 1008 pieces of used tyres, 2070 cartons of tomato paste, among others. The duty value of these items exceeds N1 billion.
