Zenith Bank Plc has made a significant announcement, unveiling Dr. Adaora Umeoji as its incoming Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
Adaora Umeoji’s appointment has marked a historic milestone as the first female to hold this esteemed position in the bank’s history. The official statement, released on Tuesday and signed by the company secretary, Michael Otu, was filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited, outlining the details of this pivotal appointment.

Dr. Umeoji’s tenure is set to commence on June 1, 2024, coinciding with the conclusion of Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu’s term as the current GMD on May 31, 2024.
Prior to this significant career advancement, Dr. Umeoji served as the Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank since October 28, 2016, leveraging nearly three decades of invaluable experience in the banking sector, with an impressive 26 years dedicated to Zenith Bank’s growth and success.

Dr. Umeoji holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the esteemed University of Jos, complemented by dual Bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and a first-class Honours degree in Law from Baze University, Abuja. Building upon this foundation, she pursued advanced studies, obtaining a Master of Laws from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Calabar.

Her academic achievements extend to a Doctorate in Business Administration from Apollos University, USA, further enriching her understanding of contemporary business practices and leadership principles.
