…urges other LGAs to emulate

The Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO)-Ease of Doing Business Secretariat has hailed the groundbreaking move by the Oredo Local Government Council Boss, Dr. Tom Obaseki who recently unveiled an investment facilitation desk, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state and country.

According to the Managing Director of ESIPO, Kelvin Uwaibi, this initiative is a game-changer, boosting investment in Oredo Local Government Area while fostering a business-friendly relationship with investors and businesses.

Uwaibi noted: “The desk will act as a central point for businesses, addressing their concerns and enhancing the collaboration in streamlining the investment process.

“This, in turn, is expected to attract more capital and create a thriving business environment within the local government area.

The chairman of Oredo Local Government Council, Dr Tom Obaseki in his presentation emphasized the council’s commitment to providing leadership and essential services to its residents. He acknowledged the crucial role investment plays in development, surpassing what can be achieved solely through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The chairman noted: “The Oredo Business Support and Investment Facilitation Office signifies a shift towards attracting capital, creating a sustainable path for growth that goes beyond traditional IGR strategies. This innovative approach positions Oredo as a prime destination for businesses thereby attracting more resources ”

He added that the Oredo Business Support and Facilitation Office has three components. Viz: Oredo Social Environmental Impact Initiative, Oredo Investment and Development Company, and Oredo Business Support and Investment Facilitation Office.

The unveiling meeting which was held at the council’s secretariat in Edo South was attended by members of the Oredo Local Government Council’s executives and Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO) team, and stakeholders from the business community.
