Chairman, Akoko-Edo Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Alade Suleman, has assured pensioners of the local government that the council will ensure that they are treated with utmost priority.

The chairman gave the assurance during a meeting with the Local Government Pensioners Association (LOGPENAS) in his office at the Council Secretariat, describing the pensioners as individuals who had played their role and effectively contributed their quota to the development of the local government, hence the need to place premium upon their welfare and future endeavours.

Hon. Alade asserted that pensioners in the local government and state at large should be treated with utmost regard and respect, assuring them that they will continue to get their dues at the appropriate time and that he would continue. As chairman, I will ensure that the local government area gets the basic and necessary infrastructural development in order to ensure it experiences a tremendous improvement in the area of electricity, security and water supply, he said.

The chairman further explained that it was his aim to enhance the investment viability of the local government area and in turn create job opportunities for the youths in the locality.

On his part, the spokesperson and chairman of LOGPENAS, Akoko-Edo chapter, Mr. Ogedengbe Alan Greg, stated that the Association had come to identify with the Council Chairman, considering the infrastructural development the local government area had experienced during the short period of his tenure so far, while lauding Governor Godwin Obaseki for the prompt payment of pension allowance to his members.

Mr. Ogedengbe further explained that the Association was financially constrained in the execution of its activities, calling on the support of the council in ensuring that their financial and internal challenges are permanently solved, while adding that all previous disputes within the association had been resolved and it had been endorsed by the Federal and State Governments to continue with its activities at the local government level.
